With Trial by Frost releasing at the end of the month on January 31, we’re nearing the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2 of Organized Play. With Season 2, we’re premiering a lot of new things, pre-releases, new Promo boosters content as well as the introduction of official competitive events, the Tumult Championships, which we’ll detail further in this article.

First, we’d like to thank everyone for this first season! It really was heartwarming to see players embrace the world of Altered, the cards, the heroes, and building decks to explore Organized Play, be it with your most powerful Uniques or your most fun creations! But we can’t forget the artists, cosplayers, storytellers and community builders who are in it for what Altered represents, you also contribute to a lot of what makes Altered the game it is.

So what’s next? Well next is even more Altered because we have a lot in store for you and we can’t wait for you to discover it all.

Season 2 starts on January 24 with the first pre-release events for Trial by Frost. This new set takes you beyond the borders of Asgartha to the Cais Adarra, a steep range of mountains shrouded in eternal winter. Real challenges await as you make your way to the top and only the most skillful and resilient among you will be able to claim the title of Tumult Champion!

But first let’s get a look at the new stuff available to anyone attending an Expedition event during Season 2.

The Promo boosters and the Adventure Pass were widely successful in Season 1 and they’re returning for Season 2 with updates and new content for the both of them.

An entirely new batch of Trial by Frost unique cards is up for grabs inside Promo boosters, meaning new mechanic combinations on brand new cards so you can find that one Unique your deck really, really needs. Alongside those, six characters featured in the story get their own exclusive alt art, available in Common, Rare and Rare-F (out of faction).

The Adventure Pass not only provides a great chance at Foilers, but features new seasonal Badges as well as new Trial by Frost alt arts, the Icebound Landmarks, that you can start unlocking as soon as January 24 with the first pre-releases.

With Trial by Frost, we wanted the stakes to feel higher and competitive play to be at the forefront of this season of Organized Play. For this Season 2, we’re introducing Tumult Championships, a limited seasonal event for players to prove themselves and lead their faction to the top. In fact, leading your faction will be more important than ever!

More details for the Tumult Championships, what it entails and its rewards will be available around February. For now however, we can tell you that you can expect those to take place toward the end of the season, the format will be Standard Constructed BO1 where the winner will be rewarded with an exclusive Champion playmat.

Each store will have the opportunity to hold it’s own Tumult Championship for Season 2, and because we also want to reward players that choose to enter tournaments with their favorite faction and not necessarily their stronger deck, we’ll also have a reward for the top ranking players of each faction.

So get ready and watch this space for more information on Tumult Championships toward February!
