As you begin to explore the world of Altered, you’ll find there are many different ways to play!

These are short descriptions of each way to play, or format, with links to let you know the rules of the format, how many players each format can support, what your deck will look like, and some frequently asked questions.

Each format is designated as constructed or limited. Constructed formats require you to bring a deck to play with, while Limited formats don’t require you to bring any.

STANDARD

Standard is the easiest and most popular way to experience Altered. Choose a Hero, build a deck in your favorite faction and start playing! As a constructed format, Standard asks two players to each bring a deck made up of at least 39 cards and 1 Hero from a single faction.

MULTIPLAYER

Multiplayer pits a team of two players against another team of two. As a constructed format, players from each team bring their own decks, choosing from any hero and any faction the ones they think complement each other best. The first player to meet their Hero and Companion markers will secure victory for their team.

Multiplayer rules are not yet finalized We’re still finalizing the rules for Multiplayer, so check back on launch date (September 13th) for full rules and information on this format! In the meantime, you can check out the Kickstarter update regarding this format.
