Introducing the Kuraokami Community Event

The snow-covered peak of the Cais Adarra is home to a world-tree, and within its petrified trunk lies imprisoned the Eidolon of a dragon of snow and ice.

Factions, it is imperative to set it free!

By harnessing the power of the Tumult that sweeps through the region, it should be possible to shatter the walls of its prison. Let it take flight once more and perhaps join the Rediscovery Endeavor, by our side!

Forward, Exalts! Use the Tumult as your weapon and break its cage to pieces!

— Temera Singh, Grand Admiral of the Expeditionary Forces

When designing Altered, it was always our idea to make the most of its digital implementation in order to give you a way to weigh in on the game itself. The lore of Altered is ever evolving and as Heroes undertaking the journey alongside us, we want you, the community, to help us shape the future of our universe.

We’re excited to introduce the first Tumult Championship Community Event. You might have noticed that each Icebound Landmark, if you complete its trial, calls on a mysterious Dragon Shade to help you on your journey. The last trial is finally here.

At the heart of the mountain lies Kuraokami, a dragon encased in a prison of ice, whose mere presence has kept the Cais Adarra shrouded in an eternal winter for several hundred years. Make your way through the mountain and free Kuraokami. Be the first to establish a bond between the dragon and your faction in order to recruit this powerful ally by your side.

How can you recruit Kuraokami ?

When a player wins an event and the title of Tumult Champion, their deck’s faction gains 1 point. By the end of the Kuraokami Community Event, the faction with the most points will unlock a Kuraokami Unbound Common and Rare card design in their faction. The faction that comes in second will unlock the out of faction Rare card design of Kuraokami Unbound.

All Altered players will be rewarded with the 3 versions of the card, Common, Rare and Rare-F in their digital collection, available through Print-on-demand. And this is even true for any future player! Once this card is unlocked, it’s unlocked for everyone.

How to register for an event ?

Stores that have ordered the Tumult Championship Kits will be able to open players registration starting March 7. As a player, starting March 7, you’ll be able to filter and find Tumult Championship events in a specific Tumult category in the event locator. Register as usual and make sure to do so on your store’s website as well.

Do Tumult Championships count as events for the Adventure Pass?

Tumult Championship events count towards your Adventure Pass progression and you can attend as many events as you like.

As a store, what do I need to know to organize a Tumult Championship ?

As a store, Tumult Championship events offer your players a chance to get exclusive rewards, play at the highest level of competition of the season and shape the future of Altered! To organize an event, here’s what you need to know:

  • Contact your Altered distribution partner to let them know you want to organize a Tumult Championship.

  • They will let you know the procedure needed to register your store for an event.

  • Starting March 7, after completing the procedure and getting your confirmation e-mail from Equinox, you will be allowed to create a new type of event on the website or the application: Tumult events.

    • Now that you’ve created your event, you can advertise it, register your players and track results through your usual means.
  • Based on the number of players your event has, we recommend you apply the following guidelines.

    • Format: standard constructed best-of-1

    • Round duration: 30 minutes

    • Tournament structure : Swiss rounds

      • Up to 8 Players: 4 Rounds (2 hours)

      • 9-16 Players: 5 Rounds (2.5 hours)

      • 17-32 Players: 6 Rounds (3 hours)

      • 33-64 Players: 7 Rounds (3.5 hours)

      • 65-128 Players: 8 Rounds (4 hours)

  • At the end of the Swiss rounds, the top 8 players should be seeded into a single elimination best-of-one bracket to determine a winner (estimated 1h30 - 2h).

  • Note: we strongly suggest tournament organisers stick to this event structure. In case they would make a different choice, players should be clearly warned in advance and the tournament organizer must ensure that a clear and undisputed Top 8 and Top 1 exist at the end of the event, as the prize structure is meant to be distributed this way.

  • When your event is over, remember to validate your event and fill in your winner’s faction for the Kuraokami Community Event.

It’s very important that you go through your distribution partner first when organizing a Tumult Championship as this is the only way to get the Tumult Championship Kit rewards and participate in the Kuraokami Community Event. Any event not created with the Tumult event type will not count towards the Community Event total.

We can’t wait to see you in stores from April 5 to May 11 for Season 2’s Tumult Championships and discover the result of your decision. Prepare your gears and tighten your boots, the mountain awaits and your ascent begins now!
