How did your journey with Equinox begin?
In 2020, driven by the desire to pursue a more creative and challenging profession, I decided to resume my studies to obtain a master's degree in game design. Always passionate about games in all their forms and motivated by the idea of designing innovative and accessible experiences, I joined Equinox in 2022 during my third year of studies.
As a collector of physical card games and a player of digital card games, I have since continued the adventure, bringing my vision to this incredible project!
What does your job entail? Can you explain what you do?
As a game designer, my role is to design gaming experiences that evoke surprise and interest while renewing interactions between players. Each mechanic must integrate coherently with the project's values and narrative context.
When I joined Equinox, the core gameplay was already well advanced, but I had the opportunity to work on several key aspects such as Adventure cards, the identity of certain factions (notably Lyra), the concepts and roles of Heroes, as well as the multiplayer mode.
The game design team comprises diverse and complementary profiles. My approach, both creative and focused on the gaming experience, leads me to work more specifically on the early stages of set design.
Specifically, my goal is to imagine, for each set, innovative and thematic mechanics and features that enrich the gameplay, diversify game plans, and further assert Altered's identity as a TCG.
What has been your greatest pride since joining the team?
One of my greatest moments of joy and pride was seeing thousands of players having fun during the Angers tournament at the end of 2024. I feel immense gratitude towards all the people who made these events possible by supporting us since the beginning of the project.
But if I had to choose a more personal pride, it would be related to my collector profile. During the preparation of the Kickstarter campaign, I proposed the idea of the Golden Booster to add an extra touch of magic and surprise to the openings (and also, perhaps, in the hope of opening one myself...).
For weeks, I enthusiastically followed players' reactions on social media, discovering their finds and amazement. Even though I haven't had the chance to open one myself yet, I remain extremely proud to have helped create this dream!
Without spoiling anything, could you describe what’s next for you in the Altered adventure?
As a new member of Equinox's editorial committee, I am contributing more actively to discussions on the game's evolution, with the perspective of a game designer, player, and collector. This allows me to explore and propose new ideas, such as alternative formats, deepen the development of the multiplayer mode, and imagine many more surprises in the years to come!
