Meet the Community #15 : LaoShiMahan

I discovered Altered through some friends of mine who run a YouTube channel. They played a few games and, of course, I had to try out the game myself. I was a little hesitant at first, but after setting up the demo decks and playing a few games with a buddy, I was sold on the foundations this game was built on.

This game appeals to me because for many reasons; It's competitive, it is less confrontational than your typical competitive card game, it has a set pace of advancing expeditions and maintaining a structured game pace, a flexible resource system, creative hero design, etc. I could probably go for a while praising the ground design of this game.

Community member Aran and I started the Exalts team and league, an online place for all players to test and improve their skill within Altered. We have run a monthly league since the kickstarter finished.

Ordis has been my favorite faction from the start. Tokens, draw, and bureaucrats all draw me to the Ordis. Within the faction, I think some of my favorite cards are Baba Yaga because I love anything that lets me draw cards, and Robin Hood because I love disrupting my opponent.

I am looking forward to opening cards and showing the game to my friends and family. I am hoping to grow a local community and be able to share the game's fun with them and my kids. I also can’t wait to get my hands on the physical cards and get them on the table!
