Banishing Gate
"Let me walk you to the door."
Story
Taru wraps his sticky legs around the monster's head and prevents it from seeing. He struggles to maintain his grip as his suckers stick and unstick repeatedly. I just need a few more seconds... The nightmarish Chimaera gnashes its teeth and manages to bite one of my Alter Ego's limbs. I gasp in pain as I feel Taru's tentacle sever. It will grow back, of course, but my stomach churns as I feel my companion's distress. That spurs my anger to take over. I trace Signs in the air to slow down time. A few stolen moments will help me banish the Tumult's aberration. That's the idea, at least. Around me, space-time glimmers like a mirror as everything plays out in slow motion. Movements and sounds. Taru squealing. The Chimaera snorting wildly. The grass slowly waving...
I summon the portal, which expands in reality like a disk bordered with purple lightning. From the other side of the tear, I can feel the pressure of the Tumult's currents, clamoring to rush through. But I won't let them. I draw a figure in the air and teleport Taru behind me, then perform a complex kata to propel the aberration through the opening. Time is starting to return to normal speed. It accelerates, freeing itself from its shackles. I strike the air with the flat of my hand to send a gust towards the Chimaera. I see the point of impact and violence of the shock, even though everything is still moving in slow motion, like wading through oil. I finally release my stranglehold on time as the creature is catapulted backwards from the explosion. I close the portal as quickly as I can, then fall to my knees, completely exhausted.
