As I carefully close the front door, I immediately notice the half-open window and curtains casually flapping in the darkness. I place a hand on my dagger, but I know it's highly unlikely I'm in danger. The scene before me is obviously designed to catch my attention. It's as if it is warning me of an intrusion. Then I spot a half-filled glass on my desk, a pair of velvet gloves on the mantelpiece, a shawl nonchalantly dropped on the sofa. Of course. I sniff the heady scent of the scarf and grab the glass to take a drink. Then I head to my room, where I can already hear the shower in full flow. I put my stuff down and sit patiently on the bed, enjoying the liqueur that Hasret has stolen from my cabinet.

She emerges from the bathroom wearing nothing but a towel. Her hair is jet black and her shoulders are still wet from the shower. I smile at her, and she feigns surprise, but I know full well she heard me come in. Hasret walks past me and steals my glass while pointing to a scroll placed on my chest of drawers. Good, that means she found something in the Asterion archives... She's one of the most skilled thieves of her generation and wouldn't have come back empty-handed anyway. Just as a matter of pride. I avert my eyes to let her dress, then open the scroll she stole for me. It mentions my ancestor, Ayxas. As I read more of it, I realize it's an attack pamphlet written by Vissentes Narses, a contemporary of his... Maybe it will hold a clue to help me understand why my ancestor committed all those offenses.
